Where to Start

We’re so glad you found us! The first step to healing is recognizing that you can’t do this alone. Mothers have been taught to put everyone else in their families before themselves, but putting yourself first will help you be the best mom you can be for your family.

There is not a one-size-fits-all treatment plan that works for every mom. It’s important to remember that what works for you, may not work for someone else. Here are some key considerations for you to look into trying:

Seek Professional Help

Check out our resource page and talk to someone who has experience treating women with perinatal mental health conditions.

Consider Medication

Antidepressants may be prescribed by your doctor to help treat postpartum depression. Taking these medications does not mean you are a failure as a mom. They can significantly reduce the symptoms you are experiencing.

A few things to keep in mind if you are considering medication. If your symptoms persist after taking your medication for two weeks or if new symptoms develop, talk to your prescriber. You may need to consider changing your dosage or changing the medicine you are taking all together.

Give the medication time to get into your system and start working. Don’t give up! There could be a different medication that is right for you.

If you have any concerns about taking medicine, please discuss them with your prescriber. There are medications you can take safely while you breastfeed or even if you are pregnant.
